eMail using Modern Authentication - Renew an expired Client Secret

Learn what to do if your eMails have stopped sending and you're using Modern Authentication.

If your eMails have stopped sending, this could be because your Client Secret has expired.

Renew the Client Secret Value in Azure

  1. Log into the Azure Portal with an administrator account.

  2. In Azure Active Directory, click View.

  3. Click App Registrations in the left-hand menu.

  4. Select the App Registration created for RDB .

  5. Click Client Certificates & Secrets then click New Client Secret.

  6. Select a new Description and Expiry date (we recommend setting it to the maximum allowed of 24 months).

  7. Copy the Client Secret Value.

  8. Make a note of the expiry date and diarise this so you can make sure to create a new one and avoid disruption of email sending for your business.

📌 Note: This will not be visible again if you return to this screen, so it’s important to make a note now (if you don’t you will just have to delete the existing client secret and add a new one).

Apply the Renewed Client Secret Value to RDB

  1. Login to RDB and Click Plugins.

  2. Select Office 365 Mailer Global Settings and a settings screen should display:

    Office 365 Global Settings
  3. Paste the saved new Client Secret Value into the field of the same name, and click Save.

📌 Note: This is a system-level configuration and only needs to be done once (Unless Client Secrets are re-generated in Office 365). RDB ProNet requires a restart if these settings are changed.
