Apply a design form to a user

Steps to apply an existing design form to a new user in Access RDB.

Written by Terence Cassidy

You can apply a design form to give a new user the same layout as everyone else. Follow the steps below to assign a design form in Access RDB.

Assign a design form

  1. Click Options, then click Designer.

  2. Click Form Settings Maintenance.

  3. Select the design form you wish to assign, then click Add.

  4. From the dropdown, select one of the options available.

  5. Select the user, group, sector, or role you want to assign the design form to.

  6. Click OK, then click Save.

📌Note: The user will need to restart Access RDB for the design form to take effect.

User unable to see the design form

If the affected user cannot see the design form after it has been assigned, work through the following steps:

Check theme settings

The affected user should check that they have not selected a different theme to other users:

  1. Click Options, then click User Preferences.

  2. Go to the General section and check the Theme dropdown.

  3. Correct the selection if necessary, then log out of RDB and log back in.

Reset RDB settings

If checking the theme does not resolve the issue, a user with admin rights should follow these steps:

  1. Unassign the affected user from any and all design forms.

  2. Ask the affected user to log out of all RDB instances.

  3. Reset the affected user's RDB Settings folder. This resets their customisable RDB forms back to default.

  4. Ask the affected user to log back into RDB.

  5. Re-assign the affected user to the appropriate design form or forms.
