The Volcanic and RDB Integration can be used to publish jobs directly from RDB to your Volcanic job board as well as syncing job applications back into RDB.

Upon installation and setup of the Volcanic Plugin (A guide can be found in the RDB Store page advising how this is done), it is simple to begin posting jobs from RDB, please follow the steps below to post a job.

You must first have a job in RDB which can be used to publish to the Volcanic Job Board, the Job must contain the following fields:

  • Job title.

  • a publish category (within the Publish tab).

  • and the user posting the job must have an email set in User Preferences..

The publish job category is selected within the Volcanic Job Posting Plugin settings; the required field could be different depending on which settings are selected, the plugin will alert you of any required fields missing during publishing.

  • You can write a description within the Publish tab within RDB which will be posted to the job board with the job.

  • The Employment Type (e.g. Temp, Permanent) will be published as the job type.

  • The start date will be shown for all jobs but an end date will only be shown for Temporary or Contract jobs (please be aware not selecting an end date will result in the Volcanic job showing the Start and End date as the RDB start date)

  • The location is selected from the Published Job Location within the Publish tab.

  • The salary shown within the job will be the Min Salary โ€“ Max Salary within RDB โ€“ there is currently no functionality to publish rates/wage for temporary or contract jobs.

Once you have filled in all the necessary information on the job please go to the Volcanic tab on the Job and select Publish/Re-Publish this will publish the job to volcanic if it has not been done already and re-publish with the updated information if the job already exists.

There will also be a URL shown on this tab with the Job Page, if you go to the URL you will see the job on the Volcanic Job Board.

The Volcanic Job can also be expired from within the Volcanic tab, doing so will result in the Job not showing on the Volcanic Job Board anymore and the Job link showing a Job Expired message. A job will also be expired automatically if it has been deleted or archived within RDB.

The Volcanic Plugin also has a syncing functionality which will be running in the background (please refer to the setup documentation for guidance on setting this plugin up), this runs every 5 minutes and in this process all new applications are added to RDB. If the applicant exists already then the existing information will be updated, if they do not exist then a record will be created with the information given by the applicant. Once the record is created the applicants will be added to the job review list where they can then be processed.

If you experience any problems with the Volcanic plugin there is a report available Volcanic Error Log within the Reports section of RDB which will show any errors users receive (this will only be available to users with the administrator role).
