A user is more restricted than expected after assigning them to multiple groups or roles

This article explains what to do if a user doesn't have access to some areas or menus in RDB even though they are an administrator - a user is in groups that should give them access but they are restricted or can't see the options they need.

Check the user's Security Option setting by:

  1. Click Options and then click Manager.

  2. Click User Maintenance

  3. Find and double click on the User experiencing the issues and check the Apply Restrictions settings- the two available settings have the following effects:

    • Apply Restrictions by AND'ing - Choosing this option means that if a user is restricted from carrying out an activity by one role and permitted by another, the restriction is lifted.

    • Apply Restrictions by OR'ing - Choosing this option means that if a user is restricted from carrying out an activity by one role and permitted by another, the restriction stands.
