Copy Menu Item Into Another Ribbon Tab

This article explains how to copy or move  a menu item to another part of the ribbon.

You can copy menu items to a different tab by:

  1. Click the tab in the Ribbon which contains the item you want to rename (e.g.Index).

  2. Then right click on the ribbon and choose Customize the Ribbon.

  3. The Customize screen opens showing on the right your selected tab and groups within it.

  4. Select All Commands under Choose Commands From.

  5. Select the target tab (e.g. "Main Tabs") under Customize Ribbon.

  6. Under the list of tabs double click the the 12 dots for the target tab.

  7. Click on the Create a New Group to open the group.

  8. Click the pencil for the New Group(Custom).

  9. Under Modify the Ribbon Group change the Caption of the Ribbon group (e.g. to Phone Search).

  10. Click OK.

  11. On the left hand side select the item to be copied (e.g. Phone Search Plugin).

  12. On the right hand side select the newly added group (e.g. Phone Search group).

  13. Click the horizontal arrow (-->) between the Commands and Tabs.

  14. Click OK.
